COMMUNITY

The Harlow greens want strong support for local organisations that strengthen our communities. We want to see a strong youth support and social system put in place.

Sustainability

We want to see immediate action taken to combat climate change. Including all new developments to incorporate ambitious sustainable energy generation programs to benefit Harlow residents and help combat the current fuel price crisis.

Transport

We will work endlessly with Essex County Council to push for more funding, used to maintain our roads and cycle paths whilst finding ways to encourage the use of the many sustainable transport routes we have in Harlow.

Crime

We will work tirelessly for a higher police presence around Harlow. With 38 miles of cycle paths that are regularly vandalised we would like to see officers on bicycles patrolling all areas of Harlow. We want better sustainable lighting all around our paths and cycle tracks. Harlow is growing, it is more important than ever to keep our streets safe and lit for all.

Housing

The Harlow greens want to see council and genuinely affordable housing being agreed in development plans. Housing that incorporates Solar panels, better insulation and also generous parking facilities to combat the growing issue of overflow parking all around Harlow. Buildings of multiple occupants to have adequate, secure and maintained bike storage facilities and bike schemes introduced through associations.

Business

We want to incorporate more support for start up companies for Harlow residents. The many empty commercial properties of Harlow could be used to really benefit local people if they were made affordable to them.

Entertainment

We have learned from conducting our survey that the people of Harlow really want a variety of entertainment venues in their town. People want music, dancing and late nights. We want to see this introduced to Harlow in a safe and well thought out way.

keep it clean

Litter is a serious issue throughout Harlow. Whilst we appreciate the efforts of local volunteer groups who help keep our streets clean we do not think it is their responsibility. We want fines for companies who dump in our rivers, who's packaging litters the corners of shopping areas surrounding their premises and that money re invested back into our communities.

transparency

If elected our councillors will be open an honest with their constituents. This means clear consultation on developments, being easily contactable and offering a support network when assisting residents with individual cases. We want to be the party that is there for you and we want to make sure you know what is happening in your area!

We believe in being brave, in speaking our minds and together we can do politics differently
