Thank you to the 4342 Harlow residents who put their trust in the Green Party at the local elections. The Harlow Green Party has been on a huge learning curve since July 2021 when Jamie Gilbert stood as a Green Party candidate at the Mark Hall By-election and secured 86 votes. Since then, we have grown, year on year:
• In 2022, Harlow voters could choose a Green Party candidate in all but one of the wards and we were rewarded with 1779 votes.
• Last year, we had full slate, stood candidates in every single ward and took 9% of the votes.
Our tough ask this year was to field 33 candidates due to the Electoral Commission boundary changes. From a membership pool of 41, we knew it would be a challenge so we rolled up our sleeves and managed to put forward 24 candidates. Every ward in Harlow had Green representation and this will give us a firm base to build upon.
