Today two of our members, Paul King and Julie Taylor attended the Stand Up To Racism counter protest against the far right in central London alongside Harlow Stand Up To Racism group. Julie said “It was important to go today to show the leagues of Tommy Robinson supporters that racism and fascism won’t be tolerated in our streets. No matter how Mr Robinson dresses it up his agenda is hatred and fear of immigration. Rather than addressing the issues of our crumbling NHS, education, lack of housing etc which are due to 14 years of austerity by a conservative government, their rhetoric is to scapegoat by blaming immigrants.” And Paul said “Today, we came together to ‘show and tell’ REAL British values – tolerance, kindness, acceptance and understanding. All communities, all faiths and all races stood together to call out and silence the bigotry and hatred of the few fascist white supremacist, populist trouble-makers.”
